Annual Wellness Visits for dogs, cats, exotics and birds: We believe that all pets should have an annual physical examination. At this exam, recommendations for optimal care and wellness will be made. Dogs and cats will have risk assessments performed as part of this annual exam to determine the most appropriate individualized vaccination strategy. Blood work and diagnostic tests based on species, breed and age will be performed with special consideration for the needs of the senior pets.
Surgical Services: Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures. We have warm-water blankets for temperature control during surgery and use fluid pumps for accurate intraoperative fluid therapy. We tailor our pain control to each patient and use pain medications before and after surgery for optimal managment of discomfort. For our clients' convenience, we regularly schedule to have certain surgeries (usually orthopedic surgeries such as fracture repairs and cruciate ligament surgery) perfomred at our hospital by Dr. McCarthy, a board-certified veterinary surgeon who practices at Tufts.
Anesthesia: We utilize the safest available gas anesthetics to provide that extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.
Radiology Services: Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the diagnosis of many disorders.
Ultrasound: We have an excellent ultrasoud machine on-site and can perform complete examinations. We also have a visiting professional ultrasonographer available for echocardiograms (ultrasound of the heart), ultrasound examinations of the chest and abdomen, and ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspirates and biopsies.
